The magazine
Sponsored content policy
The magazine accepts clearly labelled sponsored content under narrow rules. This page publishes them, for readers and for advertisers alike.
York Fourth is an independent magazine with a defined subject, the Fourth of July in York, Pennsylvania, and it funds itself in part through clearly labelled sponsored content. This page defines what that means, for readers and for advertisers.
The rules
Sponsored articles are labelled on the page itself, in the opening lines and in the listings where they appear, and the label stays for the life of the placement. No sponsorship buys a time, a route, a rule, a permit explanation or a safety verdict; the schedules, the parade grammar and the fireworks law are editorial and stay editorial. Advertisers must be relevant to the magazine's subject and its county: events, food, family services, local retail. Nothing else is accepted, and nothing is accepted that the desk would refuse to publish for free.
What a sponsor receives
A labelled article or a labelled placement in the listings, written or reviewed by the desk so it reads like the rest of the magazine, with a link policy that keeps the magazine's own recommendations independent. Rates and availability are answered from the contact page, after a look at the editorial policy, which explains what the desk will not trade.
For readers
If a page ever takes money and forgets to say so, write to the address on the contact page and the desk will fix it in place. The label exists to be true, not decorative, and the magazine's handling of visitor data in general is described in the privacy policy.
