York Fourth is an independent magazine about a single subject: the Fourth of July in York, Pennsylvania, and the county around it. We cover the parade routes the boroughs run, the fireworks evening at Fairmount Park, the nine months the Continental Congress spent in the county courthouse in 1777 and 1778, the backyard cookouts that anchor the afternoon, the family plans that survive small children, and the safety and permit rules that keep all of it legal and survivable. The magazine is published at july4york.com, a name that says exactly what it covers.
How we work
We write guides the way a borough organizes a holiday: times framed honestly as typical rather than promised, places named because they are real, laws read in their current wording rather than remembered. Every schedule on this site carries the same warning, that the organizer's current posting outranks any magazine, and the pages re read whenever a season changes the facts. What we are not
We are not an event organizer, we sell no tickets and we book no pavilions; where a guide says to verify, that means verify with the organizer, not with us. We accept clearly labelled sponsored placements under the rules on the sponsored content page, and never inside a schedule, a route description or a safety rule.
